Newcastle United are ready to move on from their pursuit of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, with Chelsea's Axel Disasi among their other targets, a report has claimed.

Guehi was involved heavily during England's run to the Euro 2024 final this summer, propelling him to national and international acclaim.

The Magpies have already seen four bids for Guehi rejected by the Eagles, with their latest worth a total of £65m. Palace are said to be holding out for at least £70m, with chairman Steve Parish making it clear the club will only sell the centre-back for 'superstar money'.

The impending sale of Joachim Andersen back to Fulham has also cast doubt over Palace's willingness to part ways with Guehi this transfer window.

The Athletic report that Newcastle are contemplating other options as they do not seem willing to get to Palace's price, and though they have not yet backed away from Guehi entirely, several other players have been internally discussed.

Chelsea's Disasi, who was left out of their matchday squad for the opening Premier League game of the season, is on Newcastle's radar and they have already expressed an interest.

Disasi only joined the Blues in 2023 from Monaco and was a prominent figure at the back under former head coach Mauricio Pochettino, making 44 appearances across all competitions. He has also been capped five times by France.

Newcastle are also in dialogue with Bayer Leverkusen over Edmond Tapsoba, who was a target for Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur last summer. Tapsoba ended up staying and played a major role in Leverkusen's Bundesliga-winning campaign.

Eddie Howe's side began the Premier League season on Saturday with a 1-0 win at home to Southampton, despite centre-back Fabian Schar receiving an early red card.
