Newcastle United are eyeing an ambitious move for Manchester United forward Nikita Parris this summer, according to recent reports.

Becky Langley’s side have earned back-to-back promotions in the last two seasons, and in 2024/25, they will be competing in the Championship. They already have eyes on the next step up to the WSL, and their transfer business has shown they intend to challenge in the second tier next term.

According to the Guardian's Tom Garry, Parris is the latest player the Magpies have set their sights on. The 30-year-old has one year remaining on her current deal with United after a season-long extension was triggered earlier this summer.

There is no indication how successful a move is likely to be. That being said, Newcastle have already lured some high-profile names to the club in order to boost their promotion hopes. They secured the signing of former Manchester City defender Demi Stokes on a free transfer last month after her contract expired at the Joie Stadium.

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Rachel Furness also joined the club following her departure from Bristol City at the end of last season. Sophie Haywood, Claudia Moan, Deanna Cooper, Amy Andrews and Shania Hayles make up the remaining new arrivals.

Parris has represented Everton, Man City, Olympique Lyonnais, Arsenal and now United throughout her career. For the Red Devils last season, she made 30 appearances across all competitions and scored 16 goals.

At international level, she has represented the Lionesses 71 times since her debut back in 2016. She was also part of the England squad that won UEFA Women's Euro 2022.

Newcastle begin their Championship campaign away at fellow promotion hopefuls London City Lionesses on Sunday 8 September.
