Noussair Mazraoui has revealed he "felt good" as soon as he became aware of Manchester United interest earlier this summer, which coincided with a desire to leave Bayern Munich.

Mazraoui completed a £17m move to United on the same day as long-time teammate Matthijs de Ligt and has started each of the club's opening two Premier League games this season.

"I wanted to make a move to another club this summer. When I heard the Manchester United option, I knew I wanted it. That felt good right away, but I had to wait until they had sold [Aaron Wan-Bissska]," the full-back told Viaplay.

"You don't just say goodbye to Bayern, but I was ready for something else. That was due to many things, but I don't want to talk about that. I always wanted to go to the Premier League, but I knew that I would take a step after Ajax. No sooner said than done."

Mazraoui explained that his experience of United and English football so far has been a positive one, particularly because strong defensive actions can be as celebrated by fans as goals.

"Luckily, the first impression was good, and that's how it felt to me too," he said. "That's a relief. Everything is new, and it can easily go wrong. What I really liked is that they can also really appreciate a defensive action, such as a good tackle or a good interception here."

United kept a clean sheet against Fulham to open the new campaign but were stung by a late Brighton & Hove Albion winner after initially going behind and clawing their way back into it.

The tests will only get harder, with Liverpool the visitors to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
