Pep Guardiola has admitted he is unsure over the future of Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson, who has been linked with a move away from the reigning Premier League champions during the summer transfer window.
Ederson has spent the last seven seasons at the Etihad Stadium after signing from Benfica in 2017, making 332 appearances for the club in all competitions and winning six domestic titles as well as the 2022/23 Champions League.
The Brazil international has strong interest from the Saudi Pro League, with both Al Ittihad and Al Ahli keen on a potential deal. 90min reported in May that City will not stand in the 30-year-old's way if he desires to leave and a suitable deal is agreed by all parties.
Speaking after the 4-3 pre-season defeat to Celtic, Guardiola admitted there is uncertainty around Ederson's future and revealed his desire for the three-time Premier League Golden Glove winner to stay.
He said: "I don't know - he has to see maybe now other options. Of course I'd like him to stay. Depends now the clubs. I don't know the situation, no contact in the last days. A question of training and being with us until the transfer window finishes and we see what happens.
"He's been the keeper for the team that has (had) incredible success the last seven or eight years. We have an incredible three keepers, especially the two who play regularly. A really important position in the team. Really good team [of keepers]. We will see until the last day of the transfer window when anything can happen. Not just Ederson but many players."
Ederson is not the only City player linked with a switch to Saudi Arabia this summer.
Midfield maestro Kevin De Bruyne previously hinted he would have to consider a move to the Middle East at some point in his career and only has a year left on his current deal with the English champions.
However, Guardiola gave a sharp and definitive retort when asked about the Belgium international's future, insisting he won't be going anywhere this summer.
