2023/24 Champions League Group H: Fixtures, results and how to watch
- La Liga champions Barcelona manage to top Group H
- Antwerp made their first appearance in the competition since 1957/58 season
- Porto and Shakhtar Donetsk battled for second place
Five-time Champions League winners Barcelona were the headline act of the 2023/24 Champions League Group H which also included Porto, Shakhtar Donetsk and Antwerp.
Xavi Hernandez had failed to steer Barcelona beyond the confines of the Champions League group stages in each of his first two seasons at the club, but he will finally coach his team in the last 16 after they safely finished top of the group.
Porto have lifted the big-eared trophy on two occasions and are far from pushovers under the wily watch of Sergio Conceicao, so teams must be aware of them as they followed Barcelona into the next round.
Considering the war waged by Russia in Ukraine, Shakhtar Donetsk did very well to book a place in the Europa League from this group, whilst Antwerp had to settle for last place, albeit with a home win against Barcelona on the final matchday.

Who has reached the 2023/24 Champions League last 16 from Group H?
Barcelona - Group H winners
If Barcelona had failed to get out of this group, there would have been serious issues for Xavi, especially given Barcelona are not at the top of La Liga at the moment. In the end, they booked their place as group winners with a game to spare.
They will not have liked losing 3-2 away at Antwerp in the last game, but Xavi was able to give minutes to some youngsters. They are through as top seeds, but many second seed sides may be viewing Barcelona as a better draw than the likes of Man City, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

- PSV (Group B)

Porto - Group H runners-up
Porto came into their final game against Shakhtar knowing that a point would be enough to ensure that they are not leapfrogged by the Ukrainian side. They decided to really entertain the fans by beating Shakhtar 5-3 at the Dragao.
This was a successful group stage campaign for Porto and they will think that they can pose any seeded team a real issue in the next round.

Shakhtar Donetsk - Europa League knockout round play-off
Anything that this Shakhtar team is able to achieve in Europe is worthy of immense praise when you consider the conditions they are living and working in.
They went into the final game with an outside chance of getting into the last 16 which would have brought immense pride and valuable cash. Getting into the Europa League is still of great worth and many neutrals will be wishing them well going forward.
Antwerp - Out of Europe
It was an immense achievement for Antwerp to get into the Champions League for the first time since the 1957/58 season and whilst they were never expected to get out of the group, they can hang onto that 3-2 win over Barcelona.
