3 Liga MX players to watch in the 2024 MLS All-Star Game
- The 2024 MLS All-Star Game takes place on July 24
- MLS' best will square off against Liga MX's best for the first time since 2022
- The match will take place at Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio
The Liga MX All-Stars will hope avenge their 2022 defeat to MLS' All-Stars with several high-profile players leading the charge.
Although All-Star Games tend to be light-hearted affairs, don't be surprised to see Liga MX's best come out swinging ahead of the upcoming Leagues Cup tournament. When the best players from each league met two summers ago, it was the MLS All-Stars who claimed a 2-1 victory over the Liga MX All-Stars.
However, things could change come next Wednesday as the MLS All-Stars will be without superstar Lionel Messi but should still have the likes of Luis Suarez and Emil Forsberg to help the cause.
Here are three Liga MX players to watch in the 2024 MLS All-Star Game.
1. Sergio Canales - CF Monterrey
When it comes to playmakers in Liga MX, there aren't many that are better than Monterrey's Sergio Canales. The 33-year-old arrived last summer from La Liga outfit Real Betis, and he'll look to make an instant impact in his first All-Star Game.
2. Cesar Huerta - Pumas
Pumas' Cesar 'Chino' Huerta is one of the most exciting talents in all of Liga MX as the 23-year-old has already logged one goal in the 2024 Apertura season. The MLS All-Stars' defenders will need to be on top of their game in order to keep a player like Huerta in check.
3. Andre-Pierre Gignac - Tigres
There's simply no way this list of Liga MX All-Stars would be complete without Tigres striker Andre-Pierre Gignac. The 38-year-old veteran is approaching 10 years with the Liga MX giants and still knows how to find the back of the net, making him a feared center-forward up front for the Liga MX All-Stars.
