Oasis Duo Liam & Noel Gallagher Open Up About Why They Became Manchester City Fans Instead of United

Manchester-born pop stars Noel and Liam Gallagher have explained why they support City, claiming that their father and teacher's influence made them choose against backing United.

The brothers, who were front-men for pop-band Oasis for the best part of 18 years, are known as huge die-hard City fans, with both of them regularly being spotted at games.

But why support City when United have always been the most successful team in the city? Well, Noel puts it down to a bizarre and psychedelic choice by his father to go to Maine Road instead of Old Trafford.

In a quick-fire interview for City's official website, Liam started off by saying: "There was a teacher, Mr Walsh I think, he used to take the kids up to City at Platt Lane.

"Go there with our pack lunches and that, so that's how I kind of got really into City, my Dad was a bit of a City fan as well."

Noel added: "Just get born with it, don't ya?

"All my cousins and that we're all Irish so they're all United fans. For some bizarre, psychedelic reason our Dad decided to take us to Maine Road first. So, cheers Dad."

Both Manchester clubs collide in an almighty clash at the Etihad on Thursday night, a win for either side should see them leapfrog Liverpool into third.

Only six fixtures remain in the Premier League this season and the race for Champions League places are hotting up, with Liverpool, City, United, Arsenal and maybe even Everton all in with a top-four chance.
