5 best attackers at Leagues Cup 2024 - ranked
- Leagues Cup 2024 kicks-off this week
- Clubs from Major League Soccer and Liga MX aren't short of attacking talent
- Denis Bouanga and Henry Martin headline the attackers at Leagues Cup
All eyes will be on the forwards at Leagues Cup 2024 with some of the best players from Major League Soccer and Liga MX looking to bag goals to help their respective sides win.
The two North American leagues are blessed with talent across in the board in the attacking department, but we won't be able to see superstar Lionel Messi take the pitch for Inter Miami for a few weeks as he looks positive to miss most, if not all, of Leagues Cup.
However, that means players from two of Mexico's most successful clubs -- Tigres and Club America -- could step up to take to spotlight. The same can be said for both Los Angeles-based MLS clubs who have their respective star forwards to lead the line in Leagues Cup.
Here are the five best attackers at Leagues Cup 2024.
5. Gabriel Pec - LA Galaxy
There were heavy expectations when LA Galaxy shelled out roughly $10m to land Gabriel Pec this winter, but the exciting winger has more than proved his quality this season with the Gs.
The 23-year-old has registered 10 goals and 10 assists in league play and will look to carry over that impressive form into Leagues Cup.
4. Cristian Arango - Real Salt Lake
Although Real Salt Lake talisman Cristian 'Chicho' Arango will miss his team's first Group Stage match vs Atlas through suspension, he should be back in the side against Houston Dynamo.
Arango -- who's in his second stint in the league -- has performed at an MVP-level in 2024 with a league-leading 17 goals while also dishing out 11 assists. The former LAFC player is definitely one to watch up front this summer.
3. Andre-Pierre Gignac - Tigres
This list wouldn't be complete without Tigres star forward Andre-Pierre Gignac. The 38-year-old is already off to a solid star in the 2024 Apertura season with two goals in three starts and he looks certain to carry over his goal-scoring prowess to Leagues Cup.
2. Henry Martin - Club America
When it comes to the best all-around center-forwards on the continent, there aren't many better than Club America's Henry Martin.
The ex-Tijuana striker has logged four goals in four starts to kick-off the 2024 Aperterua campaign as America look to take home Leagues Cup after being sent home in the Round of 16 last summer.
1. Denis Bouanga - LAFC
It's safe to say that just about every team competing in Leagues Cup (other than LAFC, of course) would love to have reigning Golden Boot winner Denis Bouanga in their side.
The Gabon international hasn't slowed down in 2024 after his excellent 2023 season and is just four goals away from matching his 20 goals scored last term. With Bouanga very much-in form, he'll no doubt be one of the most feared attackers at Leagues Cup 2024.
