Fenerbahce Official to Discuss Transfer Terms for Arsenal's David Ospina in London
A Fenerbahce official will travel to London to finalise a deal for Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina, according to Turkish publication Fanatik.
The reserve goalkeeper has figured as an understudy to first-choice Petr Cech this season and is widely expected to leave the Emirates this summer, with one potential destination being Turkish side Fenerbahce.
The club will send an official to discuss the transfer, which could see Arsenal receive a similar fee to the £3.4m they paid Nice back in 2014 for Ospina's services following a string of impressive World Cup performances from the Colombian.
Preferred to Cech during Arsenal's Champions League games, the 28-year-old conceded 10 goals over two legs as the north London side crashed out of Europe's premier club competition to Bayern Munich, who secured a 10-2 aggregate win over Ospina's side.
Should the deal be completed, Ospina is expected to sign a four-year deal with the Turkish giants, who are currently third in the Super Lig, and seem likely to qualify for the Europa League. They are without a league title since the 2013-14 season.
Ospina, also linked with Galatasaray and Everton, has had to bide his time in waiting for opportunities during his career in the Premier League. He initially managed to dislodge former first-choice Wojciech Szczesny, who has since spent spells on loan at Roma, but the arrival of Cech in 2015 has limited his appearances.
With Cech set to continue as Arsenal's premier goalie, Ospina could find himself even further down the pecking order should manager Arsene Wenger decide to use Szczesny as his backup goalkeeper next year.
