90min's Definitive European Player Power Rankings 2020/21: Week 6
By Tom Gott
It's been a pretty busy week around the world, I think there's some election going on somewhere?
We at 90min's Definitive European Player Power Rankings don't have the time to keep up with all that, because there's something more important... ranking Europe's top 15 performers using movie quotes!
This week, it's over to 2016.
15. Henk Veerman (New Entry)
"This is our chance to make a real difference." (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story)
After a fairly unspectacular career so far, Henk Veerman is using the 2020/21 season to emerge as a star.
The 29-year-old has bagged seven goals in Heerenveen's first seven games this season, including two goals and an assist in both of his last two appearances.
14. Diogo Jota (New Entry)
“If you act right, you are right. That's for certain.” (Hidden Figures)
Diogo Jota has done a whole lot of acting right since he joined Liverpool in the summer.
This week, he bagged the winning goal against West Ham, before coming away with a cool hat-trick in a 5-0 win over Atalanta. Not bad.
13. Alejandro Gomez (Down 7)
"Whatever just happened, blame it on the pig." (Moana)
Papu Gomez's tumble down the Power Rankings continues this week.
He's now without a goal in three Serie A games and was powerless to stop Atalanta getting thumped by Liverpool in Europe.
12. Joao Felix (New Entry)
"You're my only. I'm your only." (Moonlight)
That's what Atletico Madrid fans will be saying to young Joao Felix after his recent form.
He netted twice against Osasuna and followed that up with another stellar showing in his side's 1-1 draw with Lokomotiv Moscow.
Felix still has a long way to go before he justifies his sky-high price tag, but if he keeps up this form, he'll be there soon enough.
11. Darwin Nunez (Up 1)
"If you want to become stars and win $100,000, then you better be ready to work harder than you've ever worked in your lives." (Sing)
Benfica's Darwin Nunez might be on the cusp of a nice little pay day if reports linking him to Barcelona are to be believed.
He bounced back from a poor showing against Boavista with a goal and an assist to drag his side to a point against Rangers in the Europa League, stealing the show in his 30-minute cameo.
10. Sadio Mane (Up 1)
"Look on the bright side. Nobody got hurt." (The Nice Guys)
Another week for Liverpool without any serious injuries. This is going well.
For Sadio Mane, he was the Robin to Jota's Batman against Atalanta, chipping in with a goal and an assist in the Reds' dominant win.
9. Ansu Fati (Up 1)
"Despite knowing the journey... and where it leads... I embrace it... and I welcome every moment of it." (Arrival)
There's no way to escape the hopeless vacuum that is Camp Nou these days, but Ansu Fati is doing his best to raise spirits.
The talented teenager managed a crucial assist in Barcelona's 2-1 win over Dynamo Kyiv to ensure that Ronald Koeman's side didn't fall to the loss that they probably deserved.
8. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Up 1)
"I am a Comanche. Do you know what it means? It means 'Enemy to everyone'.
"Do you know what that makes me? A Comanche." (Hell or High Water)
The most polarising man in football was AC Milan's saviour yet again this week. His goal and assist were enough to secure a 2-1 win over Udinese.
Milan have scored nine goals in Zlatan Ibrahimovic's four Serie A appearances this season, and he's had a hand in eight of them.
7. Steven Berghuis (Up 1)
"There comes a day when you’re gonna look around and realise happiness is where you are." (Moana)
Steven Berghuis has found happiness in the Eredivisie, and he looks nothing like the player who flopped with Watford just a few years ago.
Even though he failed to boost his stats in Feyenoord's win over Emmen, he did add an assist in the 3-1 win over CSKA Moscow. He's only failed to get among the goals in two of his ten appearances this season.
6. Son Heung-min (Up 1)
“With the world so set on tearing itself apart, it don't seem like such a bad thing to me to want to put a little bit of it back together.” (Hacksaw Ridge)
Spurs have been a little unsteady on their feet in the last week or so, but Son Heung-min continues to impress.
He was only on the pitch for a matter of seconds against Ludogorets before chiming in with an assist for Giovani Lo Celso. What a boy.
5. Dominic Calvert-Lewin (-)
"I found myself again and I started to do what I do best: Entertain." (David Brent: Life on the Road)
After taking a week away from the goals, Dominic Calvert-Lewin put his shooting boots on once more.
The Everton forward netted his side's solitary goal in their 2-1 loss to Newcastle, but he was powerless to stop the Toffees' tumble down the table. Still, cracking barnet.
4. Erling Haaland (-)
"We're in the endgame now." (Doctor Strange)
Is it crazy to say that Erling Haaland is the perfect striker?
The Borussia Dortmund man shook off a knee injury to net twice in the 3-0 win over Club Brugge, and then managed to navigate his way through a horrifically awkward interview which wasn't actually his fault (for once).
3. Robert Lewandowski (-)
"Oh, I'm not gonna kill you... I'm just gonna hurt you really, really bad." (Suicide Squad)
Like a lion with his prey, Robert Lewandowski is toying with the rest of Europe these days.
He opened his Champions League account for the season with two goals against Red Bull Salzburg, taking his tally for the year to 12 in just ten appearances.
Is there anyone he can't score against? Doubtful.
2. Kylian Mbappe (-)
"Uh, I need you to run a plate."
"Flash is the fastest guy in there. He can run the plate like that."
"Wait, they're all SLOTHS?"
"What? Are you saying that because he's a sloth, he can't be fast?" (Zootopia)
The lightning-fast Kylian Mbappe was back at it again this week, firing home a goal and an assist in PSG's 3-0 win over Nantes.
Unfortunately, he picked up an injury during the game, and although it's not thought to be too serious, it'll probably see him tumble down a few spots next week.
1. Harry Kane (-)
"Boy, you'd think there were ten of me." (Hell or High Water)
There probably is ten Harry Kanes, because how else can you explain his ridiculous stats?
Another two goals an an assist were added to his pile this week, meaning he's hit double-figures for both already, and he netted his 200th Spurs goal in just his 300th appearance.
Wild scenes on the streets of Walthamstow.
