Aaron Ramsdale wins April Castrol Save of the Month award
Aaron Ramsdale has won the Castrol Save of the Month award for a second successive month thanks to his stunning save in Arsenal's dramatic 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Anfield.
The Arsenal number one was at his brilliant best to deny Mohamed Salah a trademark goal to earn his side a valuable point against Liverpool in April.
Ramsdale was at full stretch to launch himself across his goal line and tip a deflected curling effort from the Liverpool star just around the post in the dying embers of what was a fiercely contested game on 9th April.
The save means that Ramsdale has become the first goalkeeper to retain the Castrol Save of the Month award. The English goalkeeper also won the award in March for a wonderful stop to deny Dango Ouattara what looked like a certain goal in Arsenal's eventual 3-2 win over Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium.
Along with Nick Pope, who won the award in August and January, Ramsdale has also become just the second player to have won the Castrol Save of the Month twice in a single season.
English goalkeepers have generally dominated the award throughout the 2022/23 season, with Ramsdale, Pope and Jordan Pickford winning in five of the eight months of the campaign thus far.
Other nominees for the April award included David de Gea, Lukasz Fabianski, Daniel Iversen, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Bernd Leno.
