AC Milan predicted lineup vs Parma: Serie A
- Parma vs AC Milan kicks off at 12:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Aug. 24
- Alvaro Morata is sidelined with a muscular injury
- Expect Milan's new signings to debut this weekend
AC Milan will look to their best (and new) players to help secure the club's first victory of the 2024/25 Serie A season as they take on Parma at the Stadio Tardini.
After a disappointing season ended with Milan 19 points behind rivals, Inter Milan, the Italian giants hoped to get their new campaign off to a successful start last weekend. The 19-time Serie A winners only managed a 2-2 draw with Torino, though, after plenty of defensive mistakes cost them all three points.
The poor showing opened the door for Paulo Fonseca to make several changes to his lineup, including the possible addition of new signings, Youssouf Fofana, Strahinja Pavlovic, and Emerson Royal. Former Atletico Madrid man, Alvaro Morata, already debuted last week and scored Milan's first goal of the season, but suffered a muscular injury that will keep him off the pitch for at least three weeks.
Here's what Milan's starting XI could look like against Parma on Saturday, Aug. 24.
AC Milan predicted lineup vs Parma ( 4-2-3-1 )
GK: Mike Maignan - Milan's keeper will look to keep his first clean sheet of the season after conceding two goals last weekend.
RB: Davide Calabria - Calabria could make his 261st cap for Milan on Saturday, but his poor performance against Torino left the door open for new arrival Emerson Royal to challenge for his starting spot.
CB: Fikayo Tomori - The center-back has been a reliable staple in Milan's backline ever since he transferred from Chelsea five years ago.
CB: Strahinja Pavlovic - Expect the Serbian international to make his Milan debut against Parma after Malick Thiaw's struggles last weekend.
LB: Theo Hernandez - The 26-year-old will return to the left flank after representing France this summer at Euro 2024.
DM: Youssouf Fofana - The new signing is slated to make his debut after finally completing his transfer from Monaco.
DM: Ruben Loftus-Cheek - Loftus-Cheek won 100% of his duels against Torino and will once again look to lock down his opponents before they reach his backline.
RM: Samuel Chukwueze - The 25-year-old struggled to have an impact last weekend, but will get another chance to link up with Pulisic and Leao to generate more goalscoring opportunities.
AM: Christian Pulisic - Pulisic has high expectations on his head after becoming Serie A's all-time American top goalscorer last season.
LM: Rafael Leao - The Portuguese international is one of Milan's best playmakers, and created the most chances in his side's opening Serie A fixture.
ST: Luka Jovic - With Alvaro Morata sidelined due to a muscular injury, Jovic could once again start up top for Milan. Super-sub, Noah Okafor, though, could also get the nod as the No. 9 after finding the back of the net last weekend.
