Americans abroad: Josh Sargent stars in Norwich City draw
- Sargent celebrated his first goal and assist of the season but Norwich City dropped two points late.

The 2023/24 English football season fully got underway this weekend and several USMNT international excelled up and down the country.
Josh Sargent led the way for Norwich City, scoring the opening goal and also assisting another as the Canaries held on for a 4-4 draw at Southampton. The USMNT forward led the line in David Wagner's squad and walked away with a Man of the Match award for his showing at St. Mary's Stadium.
Sargent needed just seven minutes to break the deadlock on the South Coast before also assisting Gabriel Sara in the 23rd minute for Norwich's second goal. Although Southampton's 97th minute equalizer from Adam Armstrong ended the Canaries' hopes of three points, Sargent impressed.
Norwich City next travels to Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday in its rescheduled EFL Cup first round tie.

Antonee Robinson and Tim Ream both played 90 minutes apiece for Fulham on Saturday in a 1-0 road victory over Everton at Goodison Park. Robinson and Ream connected on the left side of Marco Silva's backline as the Cottagers earned all three points thanks to a Bobby Reid goal. Ream made his first club appearance since late-April after recovering from a broken arm.
Matt Turner made his English Premier League debut on Saturday, logging 90 minutes in Nottingham Forest's 2-1 road loss at Arsenal. The 28-year-old Turner, who joined Steve Cooper's squad in a permanent deal from the Gunners earlier this week, made five saves in the opening weekend showdown. Turner was unable to keep out Eddie Nketiah's deflected opening goal before also watching Bukayo Saka's left-footed missile from finding the back of the net.
Haji Wright celebrated his first goalscoring performance from English second-tier club Coventry City in Saturday's 3-0 home triumph over Middlesbrough. Wright, the club record signing from Turkish side Antalyaspor, came off the bench in the 66th minute and put Coventry up 2-0 just four minutes later. Wright was in the right place at the right time, stroking home in the box from a corner kick.
Auston Trusty and Chris Richards did not feature in Crystal Palace's 1-0 road victory over Sheffield United. Trusty was acquired by the Blades in a permanent deal from Arsenal while Richards is in his second season with Crystal Palace.
Duane Holmes played 14 minutes off the bench in Preston North End's 2-1 home win over Sunderland. Lynden Gooch did not feature for Sunderland.
