There are a number of high-profile derbies and rivalries in the Premier League. Arguments always ensue over which is the biggest and which is the most fiercely contended.
In terms of the one that has thrown up the most entertaining matches in recent years, the north London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham is a serious contender.
With both sides having fluctuating fortunes year on year for the past decade or so, it can often be a very hard fixture to call.
Here, we're going to look back at some of the best instalments in recent years, as well as looking at who has got the historic edge in the north London derby.
Memorable games
Arsenal 4-4 Tottenham - October 2008
We're going back a fair way here, but eight goals in a derby is never to be sniffed at.
The nature of the final two goals in this 2008 contest makes it particularly dramatic. Tottenham were actually at the bottom of the table when the game began, with Arsenal up in fourth.
That is why it wasn't a shock to see that Arsenal were 4-2 up with just a minute of the 90 to play. Spurs weren't done yet though, and two goals in five minutes from Jermaine Jenas and Aaron Lennon meant Tottenham left the Emirates Stadium with a point and that indescribable feeling that theft within football brings.
Arsenal 2-3 Tottenham - November 2010
With Arsenal sitting in third place and Tottenham trying to break into the top four, the Gunners were the favourites to take all three points at the Emirates when they met in November 2020. That is how it was panning out for a while, as goals from Marouane Chamakh and Samir Nasri meant it was 2-0 at half time.
Tottenham rallied though, and they scored three times in the second half through Gareth Bale, Rafael van der Vaart and a late winner from Younes Kaboul. It was another great moment for Tottenham in front of Arsenal's home fans.
Tottenham 3-3 Arsenal - April 2011
Coming towards the end of the 2010/11 season, Tottenham were just outside of the top four, while Arsenal were in second place and looking good. It was a game that both teams really needed to win for their own ambitions.
At a packed-out White Hart Lane, there were four goals in the first 40 minutes to make it 3-1 to the visiting Arsenal. Tottenham fought back though and managed to get a crucial point thanks to goals from Tom Huddlestone and Van der Vaart who got two on the day. Tottenham ended up fifth that year, while Arsenal dropped down to fourth with a six point gap over the rivals.
Arsenal 5-2 Tottenham - February 2012
Unusually, Tottenham were the team leading the way out of the two when this derby came around, sitting third with Arsenal in fourth. The Gunners needed the win to cause a swing in momentum, and this is what they got.
They were 2-0 down after 34 minutes with Louis Saha and Emmanuel Adebayor scoring, but Arsenal then woke up. A Theo Walcott brace and goals from Robin van Persie, Bacary Sagna and Tomas Rosicky. Both teams finished in the top four that year, but they swapped places with Arsenal taking third.
Tottenham 3-0 Arsenal - May 2022
This one mainly makes it in for two reasons. It was a very unexpected result, and it is the biggest margin that Tottenham have ever beaten Arsenal by in the Premier League. The bulk of this Arsenal team was the one that then came close to winning the Premier League the following season.
A win for the visitors would have secured Champions League football on rival territory, but this kick-started an Arsenal collapse that allowed Spurs to sneak into the top four instead.
