Aston Villa predicted lineup vs Norwich City - Premier League
Aston Villa will be looking to bounce back from their defeat in the Steven Gerrard derby at the weekend when they travel to Norwich City on Tuesday night.
The Villans have improved markedly since Gerrard took over in the dugout and he will be looking to continue this progress by getting one over the man he replaced last month, Dean Smith.
Here is the starting XI the Villa boss seems most likely to select, with the identity of the handful of players that have tested positive for Covid-19 still a mystery...
1. Goalkeeper & defenders
Emiliano Martinez (GK) - Martinez has not quite hit the heights of last season this time around - 13 Premier League stoppers currently have a better save percentage - but he is still one of the most reliable goalkeepers around.
Matty Cash (RB) - Full of energy and plenty of bite in the tackle, Cash has looked good under Gerrard so far.
Ezri Konsa (CB) - A series of confident displays means Konsa is probably Villa's number-one centre-back right now.
Tyrone Mings (CB) - Mings is not having the best season personally and gave away a penalty last time out. He will be looking to bounce back here.
Matt Targett (LB) - Not always the most flashy left-back, but Targett very rarely makes a mistake.
2. Midfielders
John McGinn (CM) - A joyous player to watch, McGinn's energy and unpredictability make him a nightmare for opposition midfielders.
Morgan Sanson (CM) - Gerrard confirmed that Marvelous Nakamba will miss this one through injury. Expect Sanson to earn a rare start in his stead.
Douglas Luiz (CM) - Composed on the ball and capable of swinging in a wicked cross, Luiz is a vital part of Villa's system.
3. Forwards
Emiliano Buendia (RF) - Still yet to recreate his Norwich magic in a Villa shirt, Buendia will be desperate to impress against his former club.
Danny Ings (ST) - Three goals from 10 Premier League represents Ings' slowest start to a season in some time.
Ollie Watkins (LF) - Villa's top scorer in the Premier League this term with four goals, none of which have been from the penalty spot.
