Aston Villa predicted lineup vs Norwich City - Premier League
An out of form Aston Villa side host Norwich City in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Since Villa last faced Norwich in the middle of December, Steven Gerrard's team have lost more than half of their Premier League games and would sit 17th if the season started on Christmas Day.
Here's the XI Gerrard may deploy to begin to rectify their woeful form.
Aston Villa predicted lineup vs Norwich
1. 4-3-2-1
Emiliano Martinez (GK) - Villa's number one has already lost more games this season (16) than he did in the entirety of the previous campaign (15) and there are still six matches left.
Matty Cash (RB) - The only outfield player to have started all 22 of Gerrard's matches at the helm is unlikely to relinquish his spot in the XI this weekend.
Ezri Konsa (CB) - Bought at Brentford and Villa by the manager of his upcoming opponents, Konsa is very much a known quantity to Dean Smith.
Tyrone Mings (CB) - Villa's captain was part of an Ipswich Town team in 2014/15 that lost to Norwich home and away in the regular season before getting dumped out of the play-off semi-finals against the Canaries the same year.
Ashley Young (LB) - The 36-year-old has played more matches with Steven Gerrard the player (17) than for Steven Gerrard the manager (16).
John McGinn (CM) - Villa's midfield dynamo is one of only two Premier League players that have created the most chances and attempted the most tackles for their team this season (alongside Burnley's Dwight McNeil).
Douglas Luiz (CM) - Norwich are the only club Luiz has faced as many as three times and won 100% of his games against them.
Jacob Ramsey (CM) - The recent recipient of a new five-year contract will surely celebrate his commitment to the club with another start.
Leon Bailey (RF) - Injury has hampered Bailey's debut season in Birmingham, but the fit-again Jamaica international has started two of the last three matches.
Philippe Coutinho (LF) - In a dozen Premier League starts for Villa, Coutinho has scored as many goals (four) as he could muster across the previous two seasons at his parent club Barcelona.
Ollie Watkins (ST) - Villa's top scorer this term has hit double figures for goals across each of the previous five seasons but is only on eight this term.
