Atletico Madrid predicted lineup vs Barcelona - La Liga
By Max Parsons
Atletico Madrid return to domestic matters on Saturday night when they host struggling Barcelona in a heavyweight La Liga clash at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Diego Simeone's side come into the game having registered their first Champions League win of the campaign, securing a comeback win at AC Milan courtesy of late goals from Antoine Griezmann and Luis Suarez.
However, the Colchoneros still have to bounce back from disappointing result last weekend. A 1-0 loss to Alaves means Simeone's men are fourth in La Liga with 14 points from the first seven games, although things are a whole lot worse at Barcelona right now.
They crashed to defeat against Benfica in midweek, with this the side that Simeone could pick to add further salt to their wounds.
Atletico Madrid predicted lineup vs Barcelona - La Liga
1. Goalkeeper & Defenders
Jan Oblak (GK) - Why would you play anyone else when you have Jan Oblak in your ranks?
Stefan Savic (CB) - Having played four at the back in midweek Simeone could return to a three, meaning a start on the right side for Savic.
Jose Gimenez (CB) - Felipe featured at the heart of defence against Alaves but Gimenez should come back into the fold having made five La Liga appearances thus far.
Mario Hermoso (CB) - Has only missed a game through suspension this season and is clearly become integral to Simeone's side.
2. Wing-backs & Midfielders
Marcos Llorente (RWB) - Kieran Trippier had a poor outing against Milan on Tuesday and, following his 40th-minute substitution, we could see the versatile and dynamic Llorente occupy his spot.
Koke (CM) - Returned to action from a muscle injury in that Champions League tie and, despite struggling, the captain should continue.
Geoffrey Kondogbia (CM) - Will be tasked with anchoring the midfield, preferably without picking up another yellow card. Has been booked in all but one of his appearances in all competitions.
Rodrigo De Paul (CM) - The summer acquisition has had a couple of standout performances so far Atletico, although added creativity would be nice.
Yannick Carrasco (LWB) - Has been Simeone's preferred option at left wing-back thus far and should continue having already bagged a goal and an assist this campaign.
3. Forwards
Antoine Griezmann (ST) - Angel Correa has scored three La Liga goals this campaign and has a strong case to start but, following his strike against Milan in midweek, Griezmann could be let loose against Barça - there's no rule against playing against your parent club in Spain.
Luis Suarez (ST) - Suarez will likely get a fifth league start of the campaign against his old club, and the confidence will be flowing after his winner against Milan.
