Aurelien Tchouameni believes that Real Madrid have the best midfield in the world heading into the new season.

The €103m signing of Jude Bellingham from Real Madrid only added to what was already an embarrassment of riches in midfield for manager Carlo Ancelotti who, alongside Bellingham and Tchouameni, can also call upon Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde and Dani Ceballos.

With so much depth in midfield, Ancelotti has even been forced to alter his tactics this season, steering away from his usual 4-3-3 in favour of a narrow 4-1-2-1-2 that allows him to play an extra midfielder.

"I think we have the best midfield in the world with legends like Luka and Toni," Tchouameni told Real Madrid TV. "We learn from them every day.

"We also have young players who are at an incredible level, like Bellingham, Camavinga, Valverde, Ceballos and myself. We're going to do well this season."

Real Madrid have played three pre-season matches so far, beating AC Milan and Manchester United but losing to rivals Barcelona, all of which have been played with the new 4-1-2-1-2 setup.

"We've been working hard these days with [Antonio] Pintus [Real Madrid's fitness coach] and the coaching staff; we're happy," Tchouameni explained. "We're not playing friendly matches because we're playing against good teams, and we want to do well. We are working really well in training, and we want to do the same in the matches.

"We've been playing well in the pre-season. We're using a new system and we have to learn how to play in this system every day. We have an amazing team and I'm sure we're going to have an incredible season."

The midfielder also spoke about his own improvements as a player, saying: "I feel good with the team, and I think I've done a good job. I also worked a lot with the fitness coach during the holidays. I feel good on the pitch; we want to play well and improve every day."
