The United States can win Group B at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games with a positive result against Australia at Stade de Marseille.

The U.S. Women's National Team might have struggled to score in their Olympic warmup matches, but they have had little issues finding the back of the net in the French capital. The Stars and Stripes earned all six points in their first two group stage matches on the back of seven goals, and now, they will just need a draw or better against Australia to clinch first place of Group B.

Australia, meanwhile, looked destined to be at the bottom of the group after a defeat to Germany, but the Matildas' late-game surge against Zambia gave them their first points of the tournament. They will have to put together something special, though, if they want to end the USWNT's unbeaten streak under Emma Hayes.

Australia will have everything to play for on Wednesday against the USWNT. Despite their slow start in their 2024 Olympics campaign, the Matildas could give themselves a fighting chance to make the knockout rounds with a win or draw against the Stars and Stripes.

Expect Tony Gustavsson to stick with his most trusted players, including a backline that scored three goals against Zambia.

The USWNT's decisive victory over Germany was marred by Tierna Davidson's injury. The center-back was forced to come off the pitch in the 44th minute after suffering a knee injury. The defender has conceded just one goal alongside Naomi Girma in the last six matches, and will be a huge blow to the Stars and Stripes' backline if she cannot go against Australia.

Emma Hayes could also look to rest some of her starters against the Matildas, or at the very least limit their minutes ahead of the knockout rounds.

Australia vs United States score prediction

Even if the United States does not start their typical XI and Tierna Davidson is unable to play, the Stars and Stripes should still comfortably beat Australia. The USWNT is undefeated under Emma Hayes, and after such a statement win against Germany, they do not look like they will lose to an Australian side who conceded five goals to Zambia.

Prediction: Australia 1-3 United States
