An interesting summer lies ahead for Barcelona after wrapping up their first La Liga title since 2019.

While La Blaugrana have continued to struggle in Europe under Xavi Hernandez, they excelled domestically this season, finishing the campaign with a ten-point cushion above eternal rivals Real Madrid.

But one La Liga crown will not be enough to satisfy supporters. The club will once again have to mitigate crippling debts if they're to conduct further business this summer.

2022/23 could serve as a springboard for the "virtuous cycle" president Joan Laporta is always lauding, and their preparations for 2023/24 begin in pre-season. Here's everything you need to know about Barcelona's summer plans.

Where are Barcelona going for 2023/24 pre-season?

For the second summer of the spin, Barcelona are going stateside for their pre-season tour.

Xavi led the club on a merry zig-zag of the US last year, hopping from one coast to the next in a sprawling and travel-heavy itinerary. This summer, Barcelona are expected to set up base camp on the west coast as the club kicks off the Soccer Champions Tour with two matches in California.

The Catalan giants jet off to Arlington, Texas for a match against Real Madrid which always tests the boundaries of what constitutes a friendly. Raphinha scored a scorching goal when the clubs met in last year's pre-season. That fixture took place in Las Vegas which will serve as the venue for Barcelona's final match of their US tour against AC Milan.

In a tradition stretching back to 1966, Barcelona will also squeeze in the Joan Gamper trophy match before returning to La Liga. As Camp Nou is under reconstruction, the club's season opener will have to be played in a different venue which is yet to be confirmed; there has been talk of moving the fixture abroad (Switzerland - Gamper's country of birth - has been suggested) while it could always be held at the club's temporary home, the Olympic Stadium.

Barcelona's pre-season tour of the US is littered with Europe's biggest sides, though the first of their scheduled matches against Juventus was called off after a virus broke out in the Blaugrana camp.

Arsenal are warming up for their first season of Champions League football in six years after pushing Manchester City in the Premier League title race. Mikel Arteta's only appearance for Barcelona's first team came during a pre-season friendly in 1999 - Xavi had made his senior debut the year before, taking one of the slots in midfield which ultimately forced Arteta out of the club.

After the first Clasico of the season, Barcelona have three days to travel more than 1,200 miles to the other side of New Mexico to face last season's Champions League semi-finalists Milan at the Allegiant Stadium.

Barcelona's opponents for the Joan Gamper Trophy at will be Tottenham, who finished eighth in the Premier League last season. That game will be played at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.
