Barcelona squad divided over Xavi future - report

Barcelona are refusing to give up hope on the possibility of keeping Xavi, however not all members of the squad believe he should stay after the season ends.
President Joan Laporta has voiced his wishes to see Xavi remain at the club and is open to offering the Spanish coach a fresh contract for 2025. But, in the dressing room, this opinion isn't shared by all.
SPORT report that some of the player wish to see fresh talent at Camp Nou, as they believe Xavi has achieved all he can. He is said to be aware of these beliefs and knows that some squad members wish to have a manager with more international experience on the sidelines.
Influential team members Sergi Roberto and Robert Lewandowski have shared their sadness over his imminent departure. However, reports in December claimed that Lewandowski, Ilkay Gundogan, Frenkie de Jong and Marc-Andre ter Stegen weren't altogether pleased with his management style.
After a hugely successful career as a player in a Barcelona shirt, Xavi signed as head coach in 2021. Now, it seems his journey may be closing, as he seeks a move away from the Catalan giants.
Dissidence may emanate from the dressing room, but people in the boardroom seemingly couldn't be more keen on a Xavi extension.
