Barcelona squad ratings on EA Sports FC 24
- Ilkay Gundogan, Oriol Romeu and Inigo Martinez will feature in the new game as Barca players
- Robert Lewandowski is the club's highest-rated player again despite a downgrade
- Breakout wing-back Alejandro Balde has been handed a hefty upgrade
Barcelona's appointment of Xavi Hernandez marked the dawn of a prosperous new era for the Catalan club.
While financial woes continue to cloud La Blaugrana, Xavi's rebuild culminated in the La Liga title last season. Combining stellar talent from overseas with products of their own to harmonious effect, supporters will hope last season's top-flight crown is just the start of the club's success with their former midfielder at the helm.
As it was in Barcelona a couple of years ago, a new dawn beckons for EA Sports after they cut ties with FIFA following a lengthy and iconic partnership.
Here's how every Barcelona squad member is rated in EA Sports FC 24.
Top rated Barcelona players in EA Sports FC 24
Robert Lewandowski (90) was the joint-highest-rated striker on FIFA 23 with Kylian Mbappe but has suffered a one-point downgrade over the summer. The Poland international enjoyed a fine debut season in Catalonia, claiming the Pichichi Trophy with 21 La Liga goals but has struggled to recapture his rapid start since the winter World Cup.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen (89), by comparison, has received a positive bump. Real Madrid's Thibaut Courtois (90) is the only goalkeeper in EA FC 24 ranked higher than Ter Stegen. Yet, the Belgian number one suffered a season-ending knee injury in the summer, giving Barcelona's custodian room to emerge as the number one virtual shot-stopper this term.
No Barca player earned a bigger upgrade than Alejandro Balde, however. The young Spaniard blossomed into a star down Xavi's left flank last season and will undoubtedly soften the blow of Jordi Alba's departure moving forward.
Balde has jumped from a 68-rated silver card at the start of FIFA 23 to a healthy 81 rare gold card. Most noticeably, Balde's pace has rocketed up by 12 points. For a sprinter whose teachers had to give the other children a head-start every sports day, a score of 91 in the speed category is far more accurate.
Despite playing a telling role in Barcelona's title success, Frenkie de Jong has only retained his overall rating of 87. In fact, every face stat on De Jong's card in FC 24 is exactly the same as his offering in FIFA 23.
Ilkay Gundogan joined the Catalan giants as the captain of a treble-winning Manchester City side. The German boasts the same score of 86 as Pedri, Barcelona's 20-year-old midfielder who emerged as a key goal threat last term.
