Bayern Munich resume their Bundesliga title charge on Friday night when they host Borussia Monchengladbach at the Allianz Arena.

The Bavarians have a squad ravaged by positive Covid-19 cases following the winter break but do at least hold a nine point advantage over second place Borussia Dortmund in Germany's top flight.

Friday's opponents Monchengladbach have traditionally been tough opponents in the Bundesliga and even beat Bayern 5-0 in the DFB-Pokal earlier this season, though they currently lie in a disappointing 14th.

Here's how Julian Nagelsmann could set his Bayern side up.

Bayern Munich predicted lineup vs Borussia Monchengladbach - Bundesliga

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Sven Ulreich

Sven Ulreich (GK) - With Manuel Neuer a Covid doubt, long term understudy Ulreich should come into the starting XI for his first league appearance of the season.

Benjamin Pavard (CB) - Has started nine league games this season. The Frenchman doesn't always get rave reviews from Bayern fans but a right sided centre half position should suit him.

Joshua Kimmich (CB) - Back in training following issues with coronavirus complications. Could be drafted back into the team in a deeper role to help Nagelsmann deal with various absences.

Niklas Sule (CB) - A battering ram of a defender but not always the most intelligent. His future at the club is in doubt, with Newcastle and Chelsea among the sides interested.

2. Midfielders

Jamal Musiala (RWB) - With doubts over the availability of a number of full backs, youngster Musiala may have to fill in out wide on the right.

Leon Goretzka (CM) - Might have wanted a little longer to return to full fitness but might not have a choice but to play. Has two goals and two assists in the league this term.

Marc Roca (CM) - Doesn't get too many opportunities due to Bayern's riches in midfield but could get a third league start here. Joined Bayern in 2020 from Espanyol but is yet to put down a marker.

Serge Gnabry (LWB) - Similarly to Musiala, Gnabry may have to fill a role for the team here. Bayern's second highest goalscorer in the league with nine strikes.

3. Forwards

Robert Lewandowski

Thomas Muller (RF) - Bayern's assist king in the league with 13 already, Muller is vital to their attacking play and enjoys brilliant chemistry with Lewandowski.

Marcel Sabitzer (LF) - Has started just twice in the league since his move from RB Leipzig. Is excellent when in full flight and Bayern will need that on Friday.

Robert Lewandowski (ST) - The most lethal goalscorer on the planet right now. Has 19 goals in the Bundesliga this season and will be looking to beat last campaign's tally of 41 this time around.
