Adverse weather conditions postponed Bayern Munich's clash with Union Berlin at the start of December, with the rearranged fixture taking place on Wednesday night.

Bayern endured a wretched weekend in the Bundesliga as they were beaten at home by Werder Bremen for the first time since 2008. On Saturday, they'd seen league leaders Bayer Leverkusen secure yet another last-gasp victory at RB Leipzig.

As a result, Leverkusen's lead at the summit is seven points before Bayern play their game in hand in midweek.

Union had just parted ways with longtime coach Urs Fischer when this fixture was originally meant to be played, with new boss Nenad Bjelica overseeing a subtle uptick in fortunes. Wednesday's visitors, however, are still flirting with the possibility of succumbing to the second tier just a year after they qualified for the Champions League for the very first time.

Here's 90min's preview of Bayern's upcoming Bundesliga clash.

Bayern Munich vs Union Berlin score prediction

Bayern were pretty abject at the weekend, and they sleepwalked into a potentially crucial defeat.

There's been a general feeling in Munich that Tuchel's side are yet to reach top gear, although it's very much expected that they'll go on a run and usurp Leverkusen at the summit. However, Sunday's showing suggest Bayern are still some way from finding any sort of imperious groove.

Thus, while Union are far from a stellar outfit, they'll be emboldened by Werder's success. They'll aim to contain the hosts and spring in transition, with Bayern likely to surrender chances.

This has the makings of a cagey midweek outing, although it's hard to back the hosts losing back-to-back home games.

Prediction: Bayern Munich 2-1 Union Berlin
