Chelsea have confirmed that Ben Chilwell has put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension at the club.

The full-back was signed from Leicester City by the Blues for a reported £45m back in 2020 and has become a key player for the club in recent seasons.

90min revealed on Monday that terms between Chilwell and Chelsea over a new and improved contract had been agreed, and the renewal has now been made official by the club.

Speaking of his new deal, Chilwell said: "I feel very settled at Chelsea and have really enjoyed my time on the pitch here so I’m very pleased the club want me to be part of the project long-term, and am very happy to sign this extension to my contract.

"We are working hard for success and I will do my best to bring more smiles to the faces of the fans who have made me feel so welcome."

Chilwell dropped to the bench for Frank Lampard's first game interim charge of Chelsea at the weekend - a game which the Blues would go on to lose 1-0 to Wolves.

The results leaves Chelsea in 11th place having won just 10 games and scored 29 goals in their 30 league games thus far.

Chelsea will be hoping to put league form to one side in midweek when they face off against Champions League holders Real Madrid in the first leg of their quarter final clash.
