Liverpool have confirmed that exciting young winger Ben Doak has put pen to paper on a new contract at Anfield.

Doak, who joined from Celtic last summer, has excelled as part of the Liverpool academy and caught the eye during pre-season when he was drafted into Jurgen Klopp's travelling group.

Since then, the 17-year-old has managed 13 minutes in the Premier League and has been an unused substitute in a further three of Liverpool's games as he continues to impress both Klopp and fans alike.

As a reward for his progress, Liverpool confirmed on their official website that Doak had inked a new deal to commit his long-term future to the Reds.

Doak is seen as one of the brightest talents in the Liverpool academy setup and has been earmarked for a senior international call-up by Scotland manager Steve Clarke, who was impressed with the winger's performance in a recent Under-21 clash with Spain.

"Anybody who watched the Under‑21 game – and I did watch it – could see he is really good," Clarke said of Doak.

"He is a young man learning the game. I think going away and playing against Spain Under‑21s and being one of the highlights of the game is good for him.

"Let’s just see how things pan out. He is a young man, he is a very exciting talent, but sometimes you have to let them grow a bit."
