The best Champions League games of all time - ranked

20. Real Madrid 3-1 Man City (2022)
Real's 2022 odyssey continued against favourites Manchester City, and their 4-3 loss at the Etihad Stadium is also worthy of a place on this list.
But the tie-defining action occurred back in Spain. Riyad Mahrez appeared to have sent City into the final with a late goal, only for Rodrygo to find the net twice in the final two minutes of stoppage time to force extra time.
Ruben Dias conceded a penalty, Karim Benzema duly scored it, and Real would go on to win their 14th European Cup.
19. Chelsea 1-1 Barcelona (2009)
It's fair to say that referee Tom Henning Ovrebo wouldn't be greeted with the warmest of welcomes at Stamford Bridge, even a decade on from this semi final.
A tremendous Michael Essien volley was overshadowed by a horrendous officiating performance that ultimately saw Chelsea denied a second final in as many years. It created that iconic Didier Drogba 'disgrace' picture, though. Every cloud.
