Football crowds have never been famed for their intelligence. Whether it's naked pitch invaders, lobbing lighters at players taking corners or shoving flares up their you know where, it's often an irrefutable stereotype.

However, give them a new signing, a catchy pop tune and a 50,000-strong chorus, and that all changes very quickly. Yes, we are, of course, talking about the beautiful art of football chant writing.

It takes great skill, and maybe a few too many pints, to conjure up these lyrical masterpieces, and in the age of social media they are able to spread like wildfire across fanbases.

Here are some of the best new Premier League chants to keep an ear out for this season.

"Lovin' big Ange instead" - Tottenham Hotspur

Despite being one of 18 Port Vale supporters in the world, Robbie Williams has been making Tottenham fans smile with his rendition of the new Ange Postecoglou chant sung to the tune of his hit song 'Angels'.

While the former Take That star didn't write the lyrics for the re-worked version of his own song, he didn't half belt out the latest adaptation created by Spurs fans. Ignoring the fact he is struggling with every fibre of his being to hit the high notes and the fact that he says 'Pottechino" instead of Pochettino, it's a pretty good effort.

The lyrics

And through it all, we'll play the way we want to,
With big Ange Postecoglou,
Whether I'm right or wrong.

It's big Ange-ball,
You can keep your Pochettino,
Conte and Mourinho,
And even Christian Gross.

'Cause everywhere we go,
I'm loving big Ange instead.

Alexis Mac Allister's AI tune - Liverpool

Why bother writing a new chant yourself when artificial intelligence can do it for you?

ChatGPT has come to the rescue of Liverpool supporters struggling to come up with a new anthem for their summer signing, creating an alarmingly good chant for new boy Alexis Mac Allister.

One Liverpool fan asked AI to write a chant for the Argentine to the tune of a 1990s dance tune, and it certainly provided. Naturally, ChatGPT chose 'Ecuador' by Sash!

The lyrics

Jurgen said I've seen ya, winning with Argentina,
I need a centre-mid too, and so he sent a bid through,
And now we've got Alexis - Alexis is majestic!
Mac Allister is magic, he's Red and it's fantastic!

Sandro Tonali's Italian tune - Newcastle United

Ignore the Italian stereotypes for just a second and Newcastle supporters have come up with a pretty good little song for new signing Sandro Tonali.

The midfielder has already become a firm fan favourite and has even been seen gracing his local Wetherspoons. Such popularity has naturally led to fans conjuring up a song to sign for their marquee signing, this time to the tune of 'La Bamba', which always goes down a treat.

The lyrics

Sandro Tonali,
Sandro Tonali,
Drinks Moretti,
Eats spaghetti,
Hates f***ing Sunderland.

"Sold my car to Lucas Paqueta" - West Ham United

This one may not have aged so well if Lucas Paqueta's move to Manchester City had materialised, but for now it's safe in the West Ham songbook.

The song first gained attention following a grainy video of West Ham fans on a train chanting about their Brazilian superstar. The chant begins with a call-and-response, before moving on to the well-known advertising jingle of We Buy Any Car.

The lyrics

Oh, I've been driving my car,
It's not quite a Jaguar,
I sold it on at Harold Hill,
To a fella from Brazil.

Ohhhh, just sold my car to Lucas Paqueta,
Just sold my car to Lucas Paqueta.
