The first Klassiker of the 2023/24 Bundesliga season arrives on Saturday when fourth-placed Borussia Dortmund host a Bayern Munich side wounded by their shock DFB-Pokal exit in midweek.

BVB's sole defeat of the campaign so far came in the Champions League away at Paris Saint-Germain, with Edin Terzic's team following up their recent win at Newcastle with a 3-3 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt and progression in Germany's domestic cup competition at the expense of Hoffenheim.

Bayern's troubles under Thomas Tuchel were exacerbated by a late defeat to Saarbrucken on Wednesday, with the only hopes of silverware in Bavaria now lying with the Bundesliga and Champions League.

Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich score prediction

While Bayern are licking their wounds after their cup exit in midweek, having also failed to win Germany's supercup earlier in the season, they approach Der Klassiker knowing they have not been beaten by Dortmund in this fixture since 2018.

BVB's attacking prowess in evident, having scored in their last 29 Bundesliga outings, and a victory here against their old rivals would really throw the title race wide open with Bayer Leverkusen currently leading the standings.

However, Dortmund fluff their lines on this stage too often to back them for victory, even at home, and with Harry Kane in such incredible form and boasting a strong previous record against them with four goals in four games, expect Bayern to bounce back from their midweek shocker.

Prediction: Borussia Dortmund 1-2 Bayern Munich
