Bournemouth announce signing of Matias Vina on initial loan
By Sean Walsh
Bournemouth have completed the signing of Matias Vina on an initial loan spell from Roma until the end of the season.
90min first reported last week that the Cherries had entered talks for the left-back, though faced competition from La Liga side Real Mallorca.
But Bournemouth have won the race for Vina and confirmed his arrival in Dorset on Monday night, just over 24 hours prior to the transfer deadline.
In a statement, Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake said: “We are delighted to secure the services of Matias for at least the second half of the season.
“Even though he only turned 25 in November, he arrives with a great deal of experience, including last season’s European success with Roma.
“Our fourth recruit of the transfer window, Matias will provide strong competition for places in our youthful squad and we welcome him to AFC Bournemouth.”
Vina's loan spell can be made permanent at the end of the 2022/23 season.
Bournemouth are set for a busy transfer deadline day, with Hamed Traore set to sign from Sassuolo and reports linking them to highly-rated Ukraine defender Ilya Zabarnyi.
Listen now as Scott Saunders hosts Graeme Bailey and Toby Cudworth to discuss why Joao Cancelo looks set to join Bayern Munich on loan from Man City, Arsenal's ongoing pursuit of Moises Caicedo & the futures of Pedro Porro, Enzo Fernandez, Youri Tielemans and more.
