Brendan Rodgers has agreed terms to become the new Celtic manager, returning for his second stint as the club's manager, 90min understands.

Celtic had made a shortlist of which including now-Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca and AZ Alkmaar boss Pascal Jansen, however Rodgers quickly emerged as the ideal candidate to take over from Ange Postecoglou.

Postecoglou recently left the Hoops for the vacant Tottenham Hotspur job after collecting a historic domestic treble at the club. And the man who is set to replace Postecoglou is another who has won a domestic treble with the club, with Rodgers achieving the feat on two occasions during his last stint as Celtic manager.

Sources confirmed to 90min last week that Celtic owner Dermot Desmond led talks with Rodgers over the vacant managerial post, and agreed to fund a revamp of the squad at the former Liverpool and Leicester City manager's behest.

Staying at the club to work as a coach alongside Rodgers will be John Kennedy, who has turned down an offer from Postecoglou to work at Tottenham Hotspur in order to work with the Northern Irish coach at Parkhead.

Rodgers had been out of a job since April when he was sacked by Leciester City following a poor run of form. The Foxes' fortunes wouldn't improve at all after Rodgers left however as the club were relegated from the Premier League.

Prior to a poor final season at the club, Rodgers worked wonders at the King Power Stadium, winning the FA Cup and the Community Shield.

Rodgers will now takeover at Celtic hoping to win even more silverware in Scotland.
