Bruno Fernandes quizzed on Cristiano Ronaldo walkout
Bruno Fernandes has said that 'nobody has to know' what he, and the rest of the Manchester United squad, think of Cristiano Ronaldo's recent walkout.
Ronaldo refused to be subbed on during Man Utd's recent win over Tottenham Hotspur, walking down the Old Trafford after Erik ten Hag requested him to come on before leaving the stadium altogether.
As a result of his actions, Ronaldo was deservedly dropped from the first-team squad for the Red Devils' Premier League clash with Chelsea, and has been heavily criticised by fans and pundits alike.
In an interview with Sky Sports following the 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Bruno Fernandes was quizzed on the squad's reaction to Ronaldo's walkout but refused to give any insight: "We don't talk about that. We keep it quiet inside.
"We have to deal with that inside and nobody else has to know what we think, what we want or what is going to happen. Also, we don't know [what will happen]. So the most important thing for everyone, including Cristiano, is that the team wins and I'm pretty sure of that."
Fernandes was much more open when asked to discuss Man Utd's performance on Saturday evening, stating: "I think first off was really good for us, obviously. After the change of the tactical change with Cucurella going out and Kovacic coming in, we had some problems in the middle, but we found our positions, we got our chances, and in the first half we could be 2-0 up.
"Obviously, in the second half they get to go from the penalty, but the belief was there. We keep fighting, the spirit was amazing and that's why we get the point is not what we want, but it's a good point.
"Keep fighting. We keep working. As I said we consider if you're not turning up or when you love enough time is because you don't deserve or because you don't get enough to be to be winning the game."
