Bruno Fernandes reveals the reaction of Man Utd's players to draw with Leicester

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has admitted that he was happy to see his teammates disappointed in the dressing room after Boxing Day’s 2-2 draw with Leicester - because it means the attitude in the squad is a winning one.

Fresh off the back of a 6-2 thrashing of Leeds before Christmas, United went ahead twice in the game against Leicester, only to be pegged back each time. The second equaliser in particular came as a late blow in the closing stages, stopping Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team climbing into second place.

As things stand instead, United remain fourth, still in a strong position ahead of Manchester City and Chelsea, with a game in hand on Everton and Leicester above them and only four points off the top.

United are determined to get back to a place where they can seriously challenge for the Premier League title again for the first time in more than seven years and the attitude that Fernandes said he saw after the Leicester game will help get them there.

“I think it's good to be disappointed,” United’s talisman reflected to MUTV.

“I was really happy when I got into the dressing room because everyone was disappointed and saying the things that we have to do better. I think it's good as it's creating a winning mentality. We were not happy enough with this point despite knowing we played against a good team.

“I'm frustrated as I know we had the chances to get the three points, which is important for us as we want to win all our games. I think I've said before that we have a good team and we have the chances to win this game.”

It was only the second time United have dropped points in the Premier League since a defeat to Arsenal on 1 November – the only other time was the 0-0 Manchester derby earlier this month – and there are signs that real progress and long-term promise is there.
