Caitlin Foord signs new contract with Arsenal

Caitlin Foord has become the latest Arsenal player to commit her future to the club with a new contract, following in the footsteps of international teammate Steph Catley 48 hours earlier.
Foord joined the Gunners after a stint with Portland Thorns in the NWSL, making the move to north London in 2020. She even scored on her debut - a 2-0 win over Lewes in the FA Cup.
Since her introduction to the side, Foord has become an integral player for Jonas Eidevall, being impressively dominanat on the wing, scoring 35 goals in her 94 apperances.
The 28-year-old netted 11 goals and also racked up nine assists during the 2022/23 season alone, although an injury in the second half of the campaign limited her output.
"I couldn't be happier to extend my stay here at Arsenal," said Foord. "I feel like I'm growing and improving being here in this environment so I don’t want to leave that.

"I want to continue to get better and to help the team – I enjoy going out and training every day and wanting to be better and being surrounded by world class players. This feels like the right place – the place I want to be," the Australia international added.
Head Coach Jonas Eidevall said: "Caitlin is an integral part of our team so we’re all delighted by the news that she has signed a new contract.
"She is one of the best forwards in the world and has performed to a consistently high standard for us during my time here, providing some crucial goals and delivering on the biggest stages. I'm looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together next season and Caitlin will play a key role in that."
Foord was ranked the 61st best player in the world by The Guardian at the end of 2022 and will be hoping to light up the World Cup on home soil next month.
