- Germany's only loss at the 2024 Paris Olympics came to the USWNT
Despite the odds, Canada will continue their gold medal defense at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games as they take on Germany in the quarter-finals.
The cheating scandal surrounding Canada has been the story dominating women's soccer at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Despite being deducted six points, though, the Reds secured a knockout berth after winning all three of their group stage matches, beating New Zealand, France, and Colombia. Three points was all they needed to finish second in Group A and earn a spot in the quarter-finals.
Canada's next test comes against Germany, the runners-up of Group B. Horst Hrubesch's squad triumphed over Australia and Zambia, but suffered a crushing 1-4 loss to the United States. Still, they are one of the most dangerous sides in the competition, and will have to take down the defending gold medalists if they want to make the semi-finals.

Canada team news
Canada proved in the group stage that they are indeed one of the top teams at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and more than earned their spot in the quarter-finals. Jessie Fleming has been fantastic for the Reds in the midfield, and Vanessa Gilles has valiantly led Canada's backline while also contributing in front of goal, scoring the winner against Colombia to send her team to the knockout stage.
Canada will need more from their forwards, though, if they want to get past Germany; Adriana Leon and Nichelle Prince have yet to find the back of the net in France this summer.

Germany team news
Marina Hegering missed Germany's final Group B fixture due to slight muscular problems. Kathrin Hendrich, her partner at the back, is also dealing with a minor knock that forced her off the pitch against Zambia in just the 22nd minute. Neither injury is said to be severe, though, so expect both center-backs to return to the starting XI on Saturday.
Up top, Lea Schuller is the player to watch. The forward has already scored three goals at the 2024 Paris Olympics so far, and will be the biggest attacking threat on the pitch for Germany.

Canada vs Germany score prediction
Germany might be the easy pick, but Canada has all the momentum heading into the quarter-finals. The Reds are on a six game unbeaten streak, and have been perfect at the 2024 Olympics so far despite the scandal engulfing their team. Yes, Germany have plenty of goalscoring threats, but Canada's defense is highly disciplined; they have yet to concede more than one goal per game in France.
The USWNT, meanwhile, exposed Germany's weaknesses at the back, giving Canada the blueprint for victory.
