Carabao Cup second round: Leicester survive Stockport scare; Fulham knocked out by Crawley
Leicester just about avoided a Carabao Cup upset at the hands of League Two side Stockport County, failing to score in 90 minutes before eventually winning a penalty shootout.
Stockport, back in the EFL this season for the first time in 11 years, held on against the 2016 Premier League champions and had a first third round appearance since 1996/97 in their sights. But Leicester goalkeeper Daniel Iversen emerged as the hero in the shootout, as a rotated Foxes side prevailed.
Fulham were not so fortunate in their tie against a League Two team, losing 2-0 against a Crawley side managed by former Cottagers striker Kevin Betsy and becoming the biggest casualty of the third round so far.
Like Leicester, Bournemouth also needed penalties to overcome lower league opposition, eventually beating Norwich 5-3 from the spot after a 2-2 draw in normal time.
There were fewer problems for Aston Villa, Wolves, Southampton and Nottingham Forest, all of whom won their ties against Bolton, Preston, Cambridge and Grimsby respectively.
A single first half goal from Demarai Gray was the only difference between Everton and League One's Fleetwood. Meanwhile, second half goals from Odsonne Edouard and Luka Milivojevic eventually saw Crystal Palace get the better of Oxford.
