Carlo Ancelotti will be in dugout for Chelsea vs Real Madrid
Carlo Ancelotti has returned a negative coronavirus test and will travel to London for Real Madrid's Champions League quarter-final first leg against Chelsea on Wednesday evening.
Ancelotti tested positive for Covid-19 last week and was absent from the touchline as Los Blancos beat Celta Vigo 2-1 on Saturday, with son and assistant manager Davide stepping in.
The Real boss did not travel with the rest of the group to the capital on Tuesday, instead testing himself in the morning in the hope of being allowed to join up with his players a day late. The club have since confirmed the Italian will be at Stamford Bridge.
"Real Madrid C.F. is pleased to announce that our coach Carlo Ancelotti has returned a negative result for COVID-19, and will therefore travel to London this morning to join up with the first team," their statement read.
Real are looking in good shape ahead of the crunch clash, with Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard – who were unlikely to feature anyway – their only major absentees.
The tie is a repeat of last season's semi-finals, where Chelsea triumphed 3-1 on aggregate, eventually going on to defeat Manchester City in the final.
