The opening matchday eased us in to proceedings, but each of the groups will quickly start to take shape after the second round of action.
There's a plentiful supply of action to enjoy on Wednesday night, particularly in the late kick-offs as Newcastle host Paris Saint-Germain and holders Manchester City visit Bundesliga high-flyers RB Leipzig.
Here's 90min's guide to each of Wednesday's Champions League fixtures.
Atletico Madrid vs Feyenoord - Group E
- Location: Madrid, Spain
- Stadium: Metropolitano Stadium
- Date: Wednesday 4 October
- Kick-off Time: 17:45 BST / 12:45 ET / 09:45 PT
- Referee: François Letexier (FRA)
- VAR: Massimiliano Irrati (ITA)
Atletico came ever so close to securing a vintage Atleti European triumph on Matchday 1 before they were pegged back at the last by Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel.
Diego Simeone's Rojiblancos are typically an entertaining watch in La Liga, and some are backing them for the title, but Simeone fever seemingly overwhelms them in Europe as they attempt to win contests in the darkest and drabbest way possible.
An exuberant Feyenoord enter the Metropolitano on Wednesday having comfortably beaten Celtic on Matchday 1.

Royal Antwerp vs Shakhtar Donetsk - Group H
- Location: Antwerp, Belgium
- Stadium: Bosuilstadion
- Date: Wednesday 4 October
- Kick-off Time: 17:45 BST / 12:45 ET / 09:45 PT
- Referee: Rade Obrenovič (SVN)
- VAR: Nejc Kajtazović (SVN)
Royal Antwerp played just their third game in Europe's premier club competition on Matchday 1 as they were thumped 5-0 by a rampant Barcelona. They'd previously been beaten 8-1 over two legs on their only other appearances in the competition way back in 1957.
The Belgians will be hoping for a more prosperous outing on Matchday 2 against seasoned Champions League opposition in Shakhtar Donetsk.
However, the Ukrainian outfit endured a summer of change and certainly aren't as strong compared to previous iterations. They were defeated 3-1 by Porto in their group opener, and it looks as if these two sides will be playing for third place in Group H.

Celtic vs Lazio - Group E
- Location: Glasgow, Scotland
- Stadium: Celtic Park
- Date: Wednesday 4 October
- Kick-off Time: 20:00 BST / 15:00 ET / 12:00 PT
- Referee: Donatas Rumšas (LTU)
- VAR: Juan Martínez Munuera (ESP)
Maurizio Sarri's history with the Champions League is far from illustrious and it looked as if he'd succumb to another defeat in the competition with Atletico holding onto a 1-0 lead heading into stoppage time of their Matchday 1 encounter.
With Ciro Immobile proving inefficient, goalkeeper Provedel rescued a heroic point for Lazio at the Olimpico, and it could prove to be an imperative point in what has the makings of a tightly-packed group.
Celtic Park is never an easy place to travel under the lights, and the hosts desperately need a bounce-back performance after they were beaten with nine men at Feyenoord.

Newcastle vs PSG - Group F
- Location: Newcastle, England
- Stadium: St. James' Park
- Date: Wednesday 4 October
- Kick-off Time: 20:00 BST / 15:00 ET / 12:00 PT
- Referee: István Kovács (ROU)
- VAR: Marco Fritz (GER)
I see you licking your lips. What a contest we've got on our hands.
Kylian Mbappe and company arrive on Tyneside ready to face a cauldron of noise at St. James' Park, with the atmosphere bound to be electric as Newcastle host their first Champions League bout in over 20 years.
The Magpies will be emboldened by their point at San Siro, but PSG were imperiously efficient in their 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund. The start of the Luis Enrique era, however, hasn't been without a couple of blips.
Thus, the hosts, buoyed by the fervent Toon Army, will fancy their chances of pulling off the upset.

Borussia Dortmund vs Milan - Group F
- Location: Dortmund, Germany
- Stadium: Signal Iduna Park
- Date: Wednesday 4 October
- Kick-off Time: 20:00 BST / 15:00 ET / 12:00 PT
- Referee: Szymon Marciniak (POL)
- VAR: Tomasz Kwiatkowski (POL)
There's not going to be a dull moment in this quite outstanding group, and these two sides will feel they need to secure three points in this encounter if they're to progress into the knockout stages.
Milan somehow didn't beat Newcastle in their group opener, while Dortmund were brushed aside by PSG in the French capital. BVB initially appeared the weakest side in this tough group, but their recent uptick in form will hand the Germans plenty of confidence heading into their first home game of the group phase.

RB Leipzig vs Man City - Group G
- Location: Leipzig, Germany
- Stadium: Red Bull Arena
- Date: Wednesday 4 October
- Kick-off Time: 20:00 BST / 15:00 ET / 12:00 PT
- Referee: Artur Dias (POR)
- VAR: Tiago Martins (POR)
It wasn't much of a contest the last time these two sides faced off, with Erling Haaland scoring a quintet of goals in a 7-0 Man City rout on their way to Champions League glory. RB Leipzig had previously held the Cityzens to a 1-1 draw in Saxony.
City have seen plenty of the Bundesliga side in recent years, but this may arguably be the most exciting iteration of Leipzig they would've faced. Marco Rose's side have started the season superbly, with summer arrivals Xavi Simons and Lois Openda to distinct threats for the visitors to deal with.

Red Star Belgrade vs Young Boys - Group G
- Location: Belgrade, Serbia
- Stadium: Rajko Mitić Stadium
- Date: Wednesday 4 October
- Kick-off Time: 20:00 BST / 15:00 ET / 12:00 PT
- Referee: William Collum (SCO)
- VAR: David Coote (ENG)
This one might not gain much traction on Wednesday night given the pedigree of fixtures elsewhere, with Red Star Belgrade and Young Boys surely playing for the Europa League spot in Group G.
Both sides were beaten by their superior opponents on Matchday 1, although the two teams flickered their potential. Red Star took a shock lead at Man City, while Young Boys were always in the game against Leipzig before Benjamin Sesko pulled away on the counter to seal Leipzig's victory at the death.

Porto vs Barcelona - Group H
- Location: Porto, Portugal
- Stadium: Estadio do Dragao
- Date: Wednesday 4 October
- Kick-off Time: 20:00 BST / 15:00 ET / 12:00 PT
- Referee: Anthony Taylor (ENG)
- VAR: Stuart Attwell (ENG)
Barcelona were among the standout performers on Matchday 1 of the competition, with Xavi's dynamic Blaugrana often impresssing at the start of 2023/24.
However, the toughest test in Group H on paper now awaits the La Liga champions as they travel to Porto on Wednesday night. The Portuguese side overcame Shakhtar away from home two weeks ago, and they certainly have the capacity to frustrate the visitors in their upcoming duel.
The potential inclusion of former Real Madrid enforcer Pepe to Porto's XI could be an intriguing sub-plot to keep an eye on.
