Charlotte FC striker Karol Swiderski makes Poland World Cup roster; Kamil Jozwiak misses out
By Chris Smith
Charlotte FC striker Karol Swiderski has been named on the Poland roster for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Swiderski was CLTFC's first-ever Designated Player (DP), signing from Greek side PAOK in January 2022.
Alongside his new team as a whole, the 25-year-old enjoyed a promising debut campaign in MLS, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists in 30 appearances, helping Charlotte finish ninth in the Eastern Conference, just six points adrift of the Playoffs.
With eight goals and 17 caps already to his name, Swiderski joins the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Piotr Zielinski, and Wojciech Szczesny on a strong Polish roster heading to Qatar.
Unfortunately, Swiderski's club teammate and fellow DP Kamil Jozwiak missed out on the World Cup roster, despite picking up 22 senior caps to date. Jozwiak, 24, failed to score and registered just three assists in 19 MLS appearances following a move from Derby County in March.
