Che Adams named in Scotland squad for upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifiers

Southampton striker Che Adams has switched his international allegiance to Scotland having been called up to their squad for the upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
The former Birmingham man represented England at youth level and was twice capped for the Under-20 side back in 2015, however he is eligible to play for Scotland due to the grandparent rule.
Scotland have previously attempted to convince Adams to represent them at international level, but their initial advances were turned down with the Saints striker hoping to earn a call-up to the England senior squad.
However, with any involvement with the Three Lions seeming unlikely, Adams has now decided to switch his allegiance to Scotland and has been handed his maiden senior international call-up for their upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifiers with Austria, Israel and the Faroe Islands - with the news confirmed via the Scottish FA's official website.
Adams originally struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League having secured a big-money move from Birmingham to Southampton, with the striker notching just four goals in his maiden top-flight season after penning a five-year deal with the Saints.
However, this season the south coast side have begun to see glimpses of the player they shelled out £15m for, with Adams scoring seven goals and grabbing four assists in his 28 Premier League outings.
The Southampton man will be joined in the Scotland squad by teammate Stuart Armstrong, while his competition for a place in the starting XI will come from QPR frontman Lyndon Dykes, Sheffield United's Oli McBurnie and Hibernian's Kevin Nisbet.
Steve Clarke's side will be looking for a strong start to their World Cup qualifying campaign as they aim to secure back-to-back qualifications to major tournaments having booked their place at Euro 2020 via a penalty shootout play-off win over Serbia back in November.
The Scots have been placed in Group D for the upcoming Euro 2020 tournament alongside England, Croatia and the Czech Republic.
