Chelsea's next six fixtures after Liverpool draw
Chelsea will not rush their managerial search in the wake of Graham Potter's departure and Brighton cult hero Bruno Saltor is expected to take charge of the Blues for the remainder of the season.
It's been a chaotic year at Stamford Bridge, to say the least. The forced exit of Roman Abramovich sparked a frenzy that would only become more turbulent once Todd Boehly took the reins. The cash-laden American has flaunted his wealth to no avail thus far, and two managers have already succumbed under his watch.
And while the club remains in the Champions League, every Chelsea supporter just wants this season to end. It's been bleak.
Here's how the Blues' schedule looks throughout April after their midweek draw against Liverpool.
Wolves vs Chelsea (08/04/23 - 15:00) - Premier League
Wolves snatched a critical point at the City Ground last time out, and they'll be confident of taking more points off the Blues when they meet at Molineux on Saturday. Julen Lopetegui's side remain in the relegation dogfight, and their recent form suggests they might not be as secure as some projected.
Wanderers had enjoyed a four-game unbeaten run against Chelsea before they were beaten 3-0 in the reverse fixture back in October.
Real Madrid vs Chelsea (12/04/23 - 20:00) - Champions League
This is a fixture that many supporters are beginning to dread, but the Champions League is Chelsea's only saving grace amid a wretched campaign.
Victory over Borussia Dortmund was the undoubted highlight of Potter's tenure, and that triumph set up another quarter-final tie with the holders Real Madrid. Chelsea will travel to the Spanish capital for the first leg.
Chelsea vs Brighton & Hove Albion (15/04/23 - 15:00) - Premier League
Chelsea's thrashing at Potter's old stomping ground was the start of the Englishman's demise in west London.
Roberto De Zerbi has built on the foundations left by Potter and transformed Brighton into a side that looks ready to secure their first-ever European berth. The Seagulls are the neutral's favourite, and they currently sit sixth in the table having played fewer games than their competitors.
Chelsea vs Real Madrid (18/04/23 - 20:00) - Champions League
The Blues will have the advantage of playing the second leg against Real at Stamford Bridge, and history will tell you that you can never write Chelsea off in this competition. Look what happened under Roberto Di Matteo in 2012.
While Los Blancos have proven themselves time and time again to be the masters of the Champions League, they're far from invincible. Their domestic struggles suggest Chelsea might have a sniff over the two legs, but the Spanish side are the clear favourites to advance and face either Man City or Bayern Munich in the last four.
Chelsea vs Brentford (26/04/23 - 19:45) - Premier League
Thomas Frank's side have been a proper pain in the arse for absolutely everybody they've faced this season. Brentford have already beaten Man City at the Etihad and taken points off Arsenal at the Emirates.
Chelsea's current woes mean the Bees currently have to be regarded as the best team in west London.
Arsenal vs Chelsea (29/04/23 - 17:30) - Premier League
Chelsea's busy April concludes with a trip to the Premier League leaders. The Gunners eased past the Blues in the reverse fixture, and have generally enjoyed playing against their London rivals in recent times.
However, Chelsea will be desperate to spoil Arsenal's title charge and the hosts will head into this one off the back of a trip to Man City in midweek. Who knows how big their lead will be at the top by the time this fixture rolls around?
