Chivas de Guadalajara's Fernando Beltran garners international interest

Fernando 'Nene' Beltran could be the next Liga MX player headed abroad after garnering international attention in the recent weeks.
Sources have confirmed to 90min that Dutch Eredivisie sides Ajax and Feyenoord, as well as the Premier League's Fulham and Wolves, are closely monitoring the Chivas de Guadalajara figure. English Championship team Leicester City also expressed interest in Beltran.
Beltran became an integral part of the team under head coach Veljko Paunovic during the 2023 Apertura, managing four goals in 18 games. The player most notably scored the game-winner against Pumas in the first leg of the Liguilla quarterfinals while bearing the captain’s armband.
Beltran's contract expires on December 31, 2023, according to the most recent announcement by Chivas, with no current plan for renovation. European teams remain aware of his deal with Chivas, and remain attentive to the ongoing situation.
Beltran first kicked off with Atlante's youth academy in 2012, working through the ranks before being scouted by Guadalajara's youth academy in 2014. The midfielder featured for the under-17 and under-20 teams, impressing to reach the senior team.
He made his senior debut in 2017 under Matias Almeyda in the Campeon De Campeones loss to Tigres UANL, and first Liga MX appearance only six days later vs Toluca. Since then, the player has recorded 12 goals and 11 assists in 183 games for Chivas in all competitions.
His club career propelled a call up from the Mexican national team, first featuring in a 2020 friendly against Guatemala before going on to make nine more appearances. Beltran also formed part of the Mexican side that earned the bronze medal at the 2020 Olympics, the group led by current Mexican national team head coach Jaime Lozano.
