Paris Saint-Germain are most people's tip to win the Champions League this season and their campaign gets off to a straightforward start, as they travel to Belgium to face Club Brugge on Wednesday.

Several of PSG's new signings, including Lionel Messi, are in line for their first European appearances for the club and they will be confident of securing a comfortable victory.

Club Brugge team news

Club Brugge have a few notable injury concerns. Eder Alvarez Balanta - who will be very familiar to long-term Football Manager fans - has a hip injury and will not feature.

Elsewhere, former Brighton man Jose Izquierdo is out while Aston Villa loanee Wesley is unlikely to start, leaving Club Brugge short up front. They do still have hulking centre-forward Bas Dost to call upon, at least.

Paris Saint-Germain have the strongest squad in the competition, although they are currently weakened by a few injuries.

Sergio Ramos, Marco Verratti and Layvin Kurzawa are still out while Idrissa Gueye is suspended following his sending off against Manchester City last season. Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are all raring to go, though.

The pair have faced off only twice previously, with both fixtures coming in the Champions League group stages back in 2019.

Unsurprisingly, PSG won both encounters, securing an emphatic 5-0 victory in Belgium courtesy of an Mbappe hat trick and a brace from Mauro Icardi.

The return fixture was a lot closer with the Parisians' registering a 1-0 win thanks to a first-half strike from Icardi.

Club Brugge are no strangers to being on the end of Champions League drubbings and they are likely to endure another one against this year's favourites to win the competition.

The game could witness Neymar, Messi and Mbappe playing together for the first time in Europe and if they start clicking, Blauw-Zwart have little chance of keeping their opponents at bay. Expect a lot of goals, for sure.
