Cristian Romero tells Alexis Mac Allister to 'cry at home' amid VAR controversy

Argentina teammates Alexis Mac Allister and Cristian Romero went back-and-forth on social media following Tottenham Hotspur's controversial 2-1 win against Liverpool on Saturday.
The Reds were reduced to nine men and lost with essentially the final kick of the game in north London, but the real point of contention came in the first half.
With Liverpool at this point down to ten men and the game at 0-0, Luis Diaz had a perfectly legitimate goal ruled out for offside by the on-field officials. But miscommunication between referee Simon Hooper and VAR Darren England meant this incorrect decision was not reversed.
Referee body PGMOL confirmed post-match this was the result of 'significant human error' and an apology has since been issued to Liverpool, while England was stood down from his fourth-official duties at Nottingham Forest vs Brentford on Sunday.
Tottenham struggled to break down the visitors' deep block for long stretches of the game but managed to open them up with two low crosses, with Richarlison finding Son Heung-min for the opener in the first half and then Joel Matip diverting the ball into his own net from Pedro Porro's 96th-minute delivery.
Taking to Instagram to post a picture of himself celebrating with the home fans, Romero wrote: "This team has great spirit, great heart, always like this, all together."
Mac Allister, who played 80 minutes at the base of Liverpool's midfield, commented on his compatriot's post and suggested Spurs were helped by the officiating, writing: "Normal when you play with 12."
Romero did not take kindly to the comment and replied: "Cry at home." Mac Allister has since deleted his comment.
The duo played crucial roles in Argentina's successful 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign.
