Cristiano Ronaldo's debut season with Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr took another turn for the worst on Monday after they were knocked out of the King Cup of Champions at the semi-final stage by Al Wehda.

The Portugal icon joined Al Nassr on a free transfer at the back end of 2022 after his Manchester United contract was terminated by mutual agreement.

Though Ronaldo has put up some impressive stats since heading to the Middle East - scoring 11 goals in 14 games - it's been the same old story on a team level with Al Nassr falling below expectations.

They were beaten 1-0 at home by Al Wehda in the King Cup of Champions last four this week, with Jean-David Beauguel scoring the first-half winner.

Al Wehda had to play much of the second half with ten men after Abdullah Al-Hafith was sent off shortly following the break.

However, Ronaldo was only able to register one shot on target all evening - none while Al Wehda were playing one man down - though did strike the top of the crossbar in the final ten minutes.

The 37-year-old was also filmed reacting angrily towards his own bench as the teams came in for half-time - Dinko Jelicic is currently in caretaker charge following Rudi Garcia's exit earlier this month.

Al Nassr have now fallen short in every cup competition they have entered this season, while a 2-0 loss at rivals Al Hilal at the weekend means they now sit three points behind Saudi Pro League leaders Al Ittihad having played one game more.

Ronaldo has not scored in any of his last three matches for Al Nassr, with the Knights of Najd falling to two defeats and a draw in that time.
