Cristiano Ronaldo makes huge Saudi Arabia claim following Al Nassr move

Cristiano Ronaldo has come up with a wild claim about the Saudi Pro League following his winter move to Al Nassr.

After returning to Manchester United for the 2021/22 season, expectations were high for Ronaldo and the Red Devils. However, they failed to kick on and United recorded their lowest points tally in the Premier League era.

Ronaldo attempted to engineer an exit from Old Trafford in the summer but found himself short of suitors and remained in Manchester for a few more months.

He fell out of favour with new manager Erik ten Hag and burned all his bridges at the club in an explosive interview with Piers Morgan on the eve of the FIFA World Cup.

In November, Ronaldo and United agreed to mutually terminate his contract after heavily criticising Ten Hag and the ownership.

However, he was once again without an offer from any major European sides, and so agreed to join Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr at the end of December.

Speaking to reporters recently, Ronaldo insisted that his new league could become one of the most competitive in world football.

"I think you should look at the [Saudi Pro League] in a different way. I'm not going to say that the league is a Premier League, that would be a lie," he said.

"But it's a very competitive league that I'm positively surprised by, a very balanced league and good teams. I am sure that in the coming years the league will be...the fourth, fifth or sixth most competitive league in the world."

How is Cristiano Ronaldo doing at Al Nassr?

Ronaldo has scored nine goals and registered two assists in eight Saudi Pro League games for Al Nassr thus far.

However, he has failed to score in four of those matches and recently drew a blank in a 1-0 loss to title rivals Al Ittihad, falling behind them in the league table.

Al Nassr remain a point off the pace in the standings.

Despite a poor showing at the World Cup, Ronaldo remains in Portugal's plans under new manager Roberto Martinez, scoring a brace in a 4-0 win against Liechtenstein on Thursday night.
