Cristiano Ronaldo misses Juventus training as Man City move edges closer
Cristiano Ronaldo will miss Juventus training on Friday as he edges closer to a move to Manchester City.
Ronaldo has already informed his teammates that he wishes to leave the club despite having one year left to run on his current contract.
Paris Saint-Germain and City were always his only likely destinations. However, PSG have no interest in signing the forward with Jorge Mendes currently trying to broker a deal for a Premier League return.
Ronaldo is willing to take a significant reduction to his £900,000-per-week wages to facilitate the move and he will be free to discuss terms with City on Friday, after being excused from training.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Ronaldo left the club’s training ground in the morning after bidding farewell to his teammates. His departure was caught on video, with the forward’s entourage speeding away in a car with tinted windows.
City’s pursuit of Ronaldo comes days after Harry Kane confirmed he would be remaining at the club. Kane has been extremely keen on a move to the Premier League champions but Spurs’ chairman Daniel Levy held firm.
Ronaldo has been prolific since joining Juventus in 2018, scoring 101 times in 134 appearances in all competitions. His move has not been a complete success, though. He has not been able to help the club end their wait for a Champions League trophy and the Old Lady barely finished in the top four last season.
Should City sign Ronaldo it is thought that Juventus already have a replacement in mind. 90min understands that the club have already made contact with Everton regarding a move for Moise Kean.
Kean left Juventus in 2019 and has never settled at Goodison Park, faltering during his maiden campaign before spending last season on loan at PSG.
