Newcastle begin a new chapter under caretaker manager Graeme Jones with a tricky away trip to an improving Crystal Palace side that was unlucky not to beat Arsenal in their last game.

Steve Bruce was given the boot by the club's new owners this week, with Jones tasked with getting a response out of a team that goes into this game 19th in the Premier League table.

Palace are 14th and have so far only won once in eight league games under new boss Patrick Vieira, but there is optimism that things are now starting to go their way and they will see this as a good chance to pick up an important victory.

This is everything you need to know about the game...

Jonjo Shelvey is suspended and Paul Dummett is injured, but Miguel Almiron should be clear of any quarantine protocols following international duty almost two weeks ago.

Crystal Palace have beaten Newcastle on four occasions since the Eagles returned to the Premier League in 2013, including three of the last five meetings between the clubs.

Newcastle, meanwhile, have won six of the 14 league fixtures during that time, while four others have ended in draws.

There haven't generally been a lot of goals in these games over the last five years. Following a 5-1 win for Palace in November 2015, neither side scored more than once in the next seven meetings until 2020. That low-scoring run finally ended last season when Newcastle won 2-0 at Selhurst Park and Palace won 2-1 in the north east.

Crystal Palace vs Newcastle score prediction

Unlike in the past, there should be goals in this one. Newcastle are yet to keep a clean sheet this season and have only failed to score themselves on one occasion in the Premier League.

Similarly, Palace have scored two or more goals in four of their last six Premier League games and have only managed one clean sheet of their own during that time.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 3-2 Newcastle
