Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez has withdrawn from the Uruguay squad for their March internationals due to injury.
Nunez sustained a hamstring injury during the Reds' dramatic 4-3 defeat to Manchester United in the sixth round of the FA Cup on Sunday. He completed the full 120 minutes after extra-time and grabbed an assist for Alexis Mac Allister, but gave the ball away leading to Marcus Rashford's equaliser to make it 3-3.
Speaking to the press post-match, Klopp confirmed Nunez - as well as Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo - had picked up knocks during the tie.
"Now, the boys go on international duty. We hope they come back healthy. Lucho [Diaz] felt his groin, Darwin [Nunez] hamstring. Cody twisted his ankle," Klopp said.
Liverpool have at least been boosted by news that Nunez has dropped out of Uruguay's squad for this month's friendlies following talks with head coach Marcelo Bielsa.
Uruguay are due to face a Basque Country XI in Bilbao and then the Ivory Coast in Lens as part of a European tour. They have only one further friendly scheduled prior to the start of this summer's Copa America in the US.
Nunez has come into his own this season following an up-and-down debut campaign at Liverpool, registering 17 goals and 14 assists across 42 games in all competitions thus far. He has, however, only just returned from a hamstring injury sustained in January and the club are determined to ensure he does not miss much more time during the final few months of the season.
Liverpool sit second in the Premier League table and one point behind leaders Arsenal with ten games remaining, while they are through to the quarter-finals of the Europa League and will take on Atalanta.
