EA Sports FC 25 was revealed July 17 including a new gameplay foundation called FC IQ set to overhaul how players operate.

FC 25 is the latest entry in EA Sports' popular video game franchise set to be released Sept. 27. Headlining this year's changes and updates is the FC IQ gameplay system. Gameplay has long been a point of criticism over the years with fans growing more and more angry.

EA Sports is introducing FC IQ as an overhaul to the tactical foundation of the game. EA Sports is "using AI and real-world data to modernize player tactics and complement the power of HyperMotionV and PlayStyles," EA Sports FC SVP and group GM Nick Wlodyka said in a press release.

"FC IQ ushers in an overhaul to tactical foundations in every 11v11 match by delivering greater strategic control, while a new AI model, powered by real-world data from some of the greatest teams in football, influences player tactics through all-new Player Roles. A revamp of team tactics and more realistic collective movement modernizes positioning at both ends of the pitch, changing how every team plays - modeled on their real-world style of play - and delivering greater variation from match-to-match," EA Sports said.

It's widely assumed that this new system will replace player work-rates as a system. That system is outdated and stale when compared to how the game has evolved over the years. The intricate details of how the AI model will work have yet to be revealed, but fans hope that it leads to better gameplay and an overall healthier experience.

When does EA Sports FC 25 release?

EA Sports FC 25 will release Sept. 27 on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Players can get seven days of EA Sports FC 25 early access by pre-ordering the Ultimate Edition. Early Access begins on Sept. 20.
